Welcome Desiree A. Cox!
Welcome everyone to another author interview. For some reason authors keep saying yes to me interviewing them. Go figure. Today we have the wonderful Desiree A. Cox.
I see Desiree learned from the mistakes L.E. Chamberlin & Harper Miller made. She sent me an image as her author picture. Smart move Desiree, but I really wanted to post my bacon man pic. Oh well, maybe the next author.
EL: Sometimes I get too tired to even look up words to spell, so I just make them up and hope no one calls me on it. What are you lazy about?
DAC: I am lazy about punctuation. I hated it during school, and never took the time to learn the comma and semicolon rules. I just randomly stick them in sentences, then see if my editor can make sense of it all.
EL: I have read your books Twisted By Desire and Jaded By Desire. Obviously I know more than some people out there but for the naïve among us, perhaps you should explain them to the simple folk.
DAC: Twisted By Desire – Every time I try to give a brief summary, I find myself going on and on. Nikki is confused. She loves her ex-husband, Sky, still. But then she meets Jeff. She’s intrigued and drawn to Jeff, but has a hard time letting go of Sky. Both men are different and offer something different. She’s confused.
Jaded By Desire – Nikki’s life is changing. She’s getting married, having a baby, and everything seems to be perfect. But things aren’t always what they seem.
EL: There are a few other books I haven’t read of yours. I think the dog ate them so it’s not my fault…I…I…uh, okay I just haven’t gotten around to them yet, can you tell me why? Why am I so slow and what I’m missing from not reading these books of yours?
DAC: My other stories, outside of the Trilogy, are included in box sets.
I have Fantasy Come True, a stand-alone, in the Wickedly Exotic Spring Erotic Wonderland box set. The setting is Las Vegas, Sin City. A chance meeting at the hotel turns into a ménage encounter.
I also have Unselfish Love in the Affairs of the Heart box set. It’s a perfect storybook love, until an unthinkable tragedy happens. Before the accident, everything was perfectly happy, now, it was heartbreakingly wrong.
Reclaimed By Desire, Book 3 in the Lust, Desire, and Love Trilogy just released Nov. 16. Brace yourself for the ending of Nikki and Jeff’s story. Will he be able to convince her of his love?
And I have a short story, The Ten Year Reunion, which will release in the Sensual and Sinful Cravings box set. The date, at this time, for release is Nov 21. Katrina was a loner, and ostracized growing up. She had three friends she lost contact with, and a crush she couldn’t forget. With the reunion looming, she couldn’t think of one person from her high school class that was looking forward to seeing her like the invitation claimed, but one person was.
EL: Are there any celebrities (movies/tv, sports, music, etc.) that you look at and think ‘we should hang out because they would get me’ and then you try to send them mail, to which they don’t respond. Which pisses you off and you tell everyone that you and your BFF (celebrity) are having a fight. Finally you break down and send them things to remind them of your friendship, like hair.
DAC: I think that about Joe Manganiello, he would totally get me [wink, wink]. But seriously, I haven’t stalked anyone since I was fifteen. It took me two years, but I got my now hubby to surrender to me.
EL: If you were to date me, how would you woo me? The typical dinner, flowers and kissing with hand up the shirt or something fancy?
DAC: Nothing fancy. I’d bring you a handful of daisies that I hand-picked from the unsuspecting neighbors garden, take you to ‘dinner’ – probably Chuck-E-Cheese so we could have some pressure-free fun playing games and talking, then have a raspberry topped cake brought out for you. I feed you the first forkful of our delicious dessert and Boom - now you’re mine. You can’t keep your hands off of me after the cake.
EL: I real like cheesy 80’s music. I just wanted to put that out there. Is there something cheesy that you like, for instance cheese?
DAC: I love 80’s music too, and cheese.
EL: If you could go back in time, kill your favorite author and pass their work off as your own, whom would it be? And what author would you just kill so that their work never sees the light of day?
DAC: Knowing how much work goes into publishing a book, I can only take my hat off to the authors before me, with me, and after me on this journey.
EL: Very PC of you Desiree, but you can’t fool me. I see the killer glint in your eye.
EL: How much wood would a woodchuck chuck, if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
DAC: Sounds like he’s one woodchucking motherchucker! I think that question goes alongside how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll? The world may never know, lol.
EL: What is your current WIP (Work In Progress)? And does it feature raspberries, because I really like raspberries?
DAC: I have just finished up Reclaimed By Desire, Book 3 in the Lust, Desire and Love Trilogy. Nikki and Jeff have enough to worry about, Raspberries might throw them off track.
I also am finishing a short story, which is an intro to another series. This one may be raspberry worthy.
EL: When you converse with people on Social Media, fans and other authors, do you picture them as muppets?
DAC: No. That would be silly. I’m an erotic author, I picture them naked, lol. In all seriousness, though, I do get extremely nervous about thirty minutes before I start a takeover. I still have that shyness from my youth that I can’t seem to shake.
EL: Are you planning on attending any conventions soon? If so, do you plan on streaking naked through the author meet and greet?
DAC: I love being naked, especially on the beach.
I have a couple of book signings in 2016. Unfortunately, one of them that I really wanted to go to in Iowa, I may not be able to now because of work.
But I will definitely be at the Unmask the Romance Event in Phoenixville, PA on Oct 1, 2016, and plan to be in New York City in August – Indies in NY 2016.
EL: Last Question: If you could create the perfect fan, like the characters Gary Wallace and Wyatt Donnelly create their perfect woman in the 80’s movie Weird Science, using jumper cables and a computer, what would the fan be like?
DAC: My perfect man would be my hubby. But I’d like to train him, and maybe make him become my submissive. I could put him in a cage, and when I let him out, he’d jump around like a happy puppy to see me.
Oh wait … you asked about a perfect FAN! Oops, never mind, lol.
Any person that likes and supports my writing is perfect to me.
