Welcome Heather Dahlgren!
Hello everyone, it's been a while! This long absence is on me. I get an idea in my head and I run with it, and everything else gets ignored - like author interviews. But, never fear, I am back and doing a double whammy this week. Author's Heather Dahlgren and Ella Emerson have teamed up to write a book called Teacher (it's out now, so pick up your copy HERE).
In celebration of their release, I will be interviewing both. Today is Heather's turn and on Friday will be Ella's turn - so check that out.
Welcome Heather! Let's get started, shall we?
EL: I like to make fart noises, especially as people sit in public so they think it was them. Then I like to watch as they play it off as if it wasn’t them. What do you do that you find funny but others hate you for?
HD: Everything I do, people love. I think it’s funny to use my kids slang and try to talk with them using it. Most of the time I don’t know what it means and I just randomly throw it in. They don’t think it’s funny, I on the other hand think it is hilarious!
EL: Having read your Sexy Series, Behind the Lens & Behind the Book, I think you wrote it like any good photographer – you know where to place the model and make it all sexy! There are some out there who have not read the series, therefore don’t get my photographer reference. Ha, ha! Would you mind explaining the books to them as I am too busy laughing at their ignorance?
HD: Of course I can. Behind the Lens centers around Jax and Kallie. Kallie is a photographer and Jax…you guessed it, he’s a model. They have an undeniable attraction, but Kallie does not believe in mixing pleasure and business. Willing to take her any way he can, they decide on friends. The question is, how long can they deny what they are feeling?
In Behind the Lens you are introduced to everyone and one of them is Blake, Jax’s best friend and also a model. Behind the Book centers around Blake and London. Blake is a well know mut (male slut) and has no intention of changing his wicked ways. That is until he meets London, the bestselling author who has decided to have Blake on her cover. London has a past and she does everything she can to avoid being hurt again. But with the help of her best friend Shannon, she decides it is time to live for now. As she tries to overcome her past, Blake tries to learn his way through his first real relationship. But can the past stay where it belongs?
Both books are fun, sexy and HOT. I mean how can they not be, there are models.
EL: I haven’t read your other works, which is the Change series and the book Dancing Hearts. I guess it’s everyone’s turn to laugh at me. Could explain them to me so they will stop laughing?
HD: I’ll do my best to keep it short and sweet.
In the Change Series you meet Campbell, Young and Dick. As well as Kenz, Maddie and Becca. There are also a few surprise characters. This series takes you through the journeys of each couple from when they meet in college. Whether you prefer sweet and sexy Campbell, hilariously and hot Young or protective and passionate Dick, each book will keep you entertained and probably cause a panty change or two. Each book is centered on a certain couple, but have no fear the gang is always around. They can’t go too long without a game of truth or dare.
Dancing Hearts is my only standalone right now. Cooper and Emma meet at a concert and things get hot pretty fast. Brought together by their love of music, they have a wild ride.
EL: When you write do you need to be secluded, like in a creepy log cabin in the woods, where there is no running water and your only friend is a squirrel you named Ed but has actually been dead for a few weeks? Or, do you just write while driving?
HD: As much as I would enjoy both of those, it’s not how I write. I actually sit in my living room, in my chair, and write away. Although my cat likes to sit with me, so that is kind of the same.
EL: Can you tell me about your current WIP (work in progress)? Is it about a rich person who goes crazy and thinks she’s a cat named Tiger?
HD: I have three WIPs going on right now. Behind the Lies, which is book three in the sexy series. Until You, which is a standalone novella that is part of the Happy Endings Resort Series, which just came out too. I have just co-wrote a book with Ella Emerson called Teacher. This is a steamy, sexy and wildly taboo teacher/student romance. I can’t wait for everyone to read it.
EL: My car is about to die. Would you mind loaning me a few thousand dollars to put a down payment on a new one? Preferably a Lexus.
HD: Girl, I would gladly lend you a few thousand dollars, if I had it. LOL
EL: What authors (living or dead) would you love to travel with in time in a hot tub time machine? What authors (living or dead) would you travel back to prehistoric times with and then ditch there?
HD: Authors I would love to travel in a hot tub time machine with would be Kate McCarthy, Ella Emerson, Alison Bailey, Priscilla Glenn, and like 10,000 more. I wouldn’t ditch anyone in prehistoric times.
EL: Do you know what it sounds like when doves cry?
HD: LOL No I don’t. Did you know that doves mate for life? So I guess one would cry if it lost its lover. 😉
EL: Have you thought about making someone you know a villain or kill them off?
HD: I’d love to have a great story for this, but I don’t. I’ve never even thought about it.
EL: You are the second author I have interviewed who lives in New Jersey, Nicholas Tanek being the other? Does that state release some sort of pheromones that attract authors?
HD: Yes it does, however don’t rush here. It only works if you lived here before becoming an author.
EL: Imagine you are meeting your dream author for the first time. They turn to you and walk straight toward you. You are freaking out because it’s that amazing author you love. Then they say, “There is this green thing in the middle of your teeth? Did you have a salad at lunch?” Do you:
A. Sigh in relief because yes you did have that for lunch, now you both have something to talk about.
B. Jump up and down, grab the author in your arms for a bear hug and scream gibberish in the author’s ear because you are so excited you just can’t form words at that moment.
C. Punch the author. Because fuck them!
HD: LMFAO. I would definitely pick B and after I was done fan girling like an idiot, I would probably pass out.
EL: Last question. If you were confronted with a killer and could only defend yourself with your books or a bag of marshmallows, which would you choose and why?
HD: I would pick my books because what the hell is a marshmallow going to do? LOL
